ABSTRACT The year 2023 was recorded as the hottest year in history, with a 1.5°C increase in global temperatures compared to pre‐industrial levels. The projections indicate further warming, by 3.1°C–5.1°C till 2100, if substantial measures are not implemented. These climatic changes have profound implications on agriculture and pose threats to global food security, underscoring the urgency of adopting climate‐smart agricultural practices to mitigate their adverse effects and ensure sustainable food production. Groundnut, a nutrient‐rich oilseed‐legume, holds significant importance worldwide. Research indicates that elevated CO 2 levels can enhance photosynthesis and seed yield, but higher temperatures can be detrimental for seed yield and quality of groundnut. The influence of rainfall on crop varies depending on its amount and intensity at different crop growth stages. This review makes an assessment of the multifaceted impacts of climate change on groundnut growth, yield, and quality in the light of empirical evidence. It also explores adaptation and mitigation strategies such as breeding climate‐resilient varieties, implementing agronomic practices tailored for climate adaptation, adopting advanced water management techniques, and utilising precision farming technologies to boost groundnut resilience. Further, this review aims to guide the stakeholders on effective strategies for sustainable groundnut production amid the escalating challenges posed by climate change.
