The article reveals the peculiarities of Olena Kurylo’s terminological idiolect, an outstanding researcher who consistently defended specific Ukrainian terminology and contributed a lot for the development of linguistic, physical, chemical, medical terminology and botanical nomenclature. Author`s terminological heritage is considered in the aspect of the concept of “terminological idiolect” – a category that does not have an unambiguous interpretation in the scientific literature and which we consider to be part of the idiolect of an individual – a representer of profession-al knowledge, a fragment of his cognitive type. It is emphasized that the terminological idiolect of a researcher who deals with various branches of science consists of sets of terminological units not only in one field, but in all that become the object of study of this researcher, and it can be clearly oriented towards borrowed terminological items. Appeal to the experience of our predecessors helps to find an answer to the question of what the relationship between the native and the borrowed in terminology should be. Olena Kurylo’s contribution to the de-Russification of Ukrainian scientific terminology is shown, her views on specific and international terms in the school teaching course and in scientific literature are highlighted.
