A survey of the butterfly fauna of the Dwesa-Cwebe nature reserves was conducted from November 2013 to May 2015 in order to produce a checklist of the species present. This list was supplemented from records in the LepiMAP Database of the Animal Demography Unit of the University of Cape Town. A total of 140 species was recorded, 21 of which reach their southern limits in the reserves.
