Environmental issues represent one of the most important issues in international security policy, and emerging environmental threats constitute one of the most significant security dilemmas at the international level. Environmental security encompasses a wide range of issues, including climate change (i.e., natural disasters, drought, and sea-level rise), resource conflict, threats to sustainability and livelihoods, and the degradation of land, water, and air, in addition to concerns related to public health, the global economy, and overall peace and stability worldwide. It is noted that the threats to global security are enormous with regard to the environment, and the problems are deeper, broader, and more radical than the solutions proposed. The solutions are reformative and aim to reduce the harm caused to humans on Earth. The incompatibility of solutions with the threats is in itself a security issue that must be considered.
