This article considers the role of spiritual and moral values in how university students perceive the Great Patriotic War, drawing on systematic analysis and survey data. The study identifies tools, principles, criteria, and indicators for preserving historical memory as part of fostering patriotism. The findings highlight the significance of moral reflection in the celebration of Victory Day and students’ understanding of the holiday’s purpose in preserving the memory of the people’s heroic efforts. The novelty of the study lies in establishing the link between students’ perception of spiritual and moral values and the development of patriotism.
