The article examines the issues of expanding the list of laboratory practical training in physics based on the existing laboratory facilities. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of one of the effective approaches – modernization and adaptation of existing laboratory installations for solving new educational problems in a technical university without significant costs. Examples of the implementation of this approach in the educational process, as well as its role in the training of future specialists are presented.
