Significance. The prime national development goal of the Russian Federation is “to preserve the population, improve the health and well-being of the citizens, and provide support for families”, which is based on strengthening family ties and boosting the birth rate, particularly through the birth of the third child and subsequent children. Purpose. To analyze the dynamics in family plans of the population based on the data of the Rosstat sample studies. Material and methods. The responds to the questions contained in the “Individual questionnaire for women aged 18-44 and men aged 18-60” of the federal statistical observation on socio-demographic issues “Results of the sample observation of the population’s reproductive plans” for 2012, 2017 and 2022 was analyzed. The sample covered 40,000 households. The obtained data were processed using the licensed Excel 2016 software package. Results. The respondents consider the age between 23 and 28 to be the ideal one for marriage, and they aim to have one or two children. Reproductive plans are influenced by housing issues and the standard of living. According to the sociological study, the birth of a second child has strengthened the marriage of over one-third of both men and women, and almost a fifth of both gender groups mentioned a higher respect from others. Conclusion. The study results make it possible to determine the main directions for developing programs on family education and preventive measures at the federal and regional levels aimed at preserving and strengthening traditional family values, reproductive health of the population and the birth of healthy offspring.
