General surgery is a broad medical specialty that encompasses a variety of procedures, from emergency interventions to elective surgeries. This summary addresses the importance of general surgical practice in the management of common conditions, highlighting modern techniques, challenges, and recent advances. A literature review was conducted to explore best practices, with a focus on minimally invasive procedures, management of complications, and improvement in perioperative care. The results show that technological innovation, including laparoscopy and robotics, has significantly improved surgical outcomes and patient recovery. However, challenges remain, such as the need for ongoing training and resource management. It is concluded that general surgery continues to evolve, contributing to improving patients' quality of life through safer and more effective techniques.
