In this article I intend to show how the purpose of the modern university, as a guardian institution and transmitter of knowledge, was overwhelmed by the complex reality that humanity began to live from the twentieth century. From a method of critical analysis, I came to the conclusion of the urgency of transforming the sense of knowledge where the Subject who knows is part of knowledge, as proposed by the Transdisciplinary Methodology.
