This study aims to propose a method for effectively teaching and learning the Korean past recollection expressions‘-teon’and‘-ass/eossten’, which learners of Korean often find difficult to use, by utilizing webtoons. To achieve this, the study first examines the usefulness of webtoons in Korean language education and analyzes the appearances of‘-teon’and‘-ass/eossten’in Korean language teaching materials. Additionally, ten scenes depicting past recollection expressions were created using webtoons, and a study was conducted involving 26 intermediate to advanced level Korean learners on the use of ‘-teon’ and ‘-ass/eossten’ in past recollection expressions. Surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted afterward. The findings reveal that Korean learners find it difficult to distinguish between‘-teon’and‘-ass/eossten’and particularly make many errors in using‘-teon’. Furthermore, the usefulness of utilizing webtoons in teaching past recollection expressions was examined. Based on these findings, the study proposes teaching and learning materials for‘-teon’ and‘-ass/eossten’using webtoons and suggests a task-based teaching model (TTT) for teaching and learning. This study highlights the educational benefits of webtoons in Korean language education and presents practical educational materials and teaching-learning models for‘-teon’and‘-ass/eossten’using webtoons. However, a limitation of this study is the inability to verify the effectiveness of the proposed teaching model through actual classroom application. It is hoped that this study will lead to further research on the use of webtoons in Korean language education.
