This study explores its role as a mountain god, guardian deity, divine dwelling, birthplace of gods, and sacred space. Historically, Halla Mountain was worshipped for controlling weather and honored as a guardian during the Joseon Dynasty, earning the title Yeongju Mountain. Its volcanic crater linked it to Taoist immortals. Gods from Hallasan Mountain became key figures in local shamanistic practices. Confucian rites and Buddhist practices flourished here. Understanding Hallasan Mountain's sacredness from a perspective of natural harmony is essential for appreciating its cultural significance.
