In the modern world, the transmission of knowledge to new generations requires innovative approaches, supported by the cultural changes of recent years. This article addresses this issue by presenting a case study carried out over 11 years on a design course. The results show that new generations need modern teaching approaches, in addition to the traditional method, which is mainly based on the exposition of concepts and directed readings. Five approaches were tested during the period in question and the results are presented here: using a materials library, analyzing the LCA of materials, building models and prototypes, making educational videos and making comics. The aim is to contribute to the discussion of the teaching practice of materials and manufacturing processes in product design courses.
