Forty years ago, literacy rates in the PRC were very low, but today China’s education system is one of the largest in the world. Highlighting the features of successful state policy in the article provides recommendations for implementing education reforms in other countries. A qualitative method of researching sources made it possible to establish the foundations and consequences of the “three policies” concept and other aspects of modern Chinese education. Along with the already existing achievements in educational policy, further measures to improve the efficiency of education in the country are also necessary.
