As the most widely used second language (Broughton et al., 1981), English has become very important in many fields of life. The number of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students has ballooned, going hand in hand with the greater demand for English vocabulary learning tools, especially social media platforms such as Facebook. This study was conducted to explore Vietnamese EFT students' perceptions of utilizing Facebook's basic features for learning English vocabulary by a quantitative study. A total of 120 English major students, from freshman to senior, from a university in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam participated in this study. The results indicated that most EFL students regarded Facebook as an effective tool for English vocabulary learning by providing social learning, community of practice and education environment. Its challenges and limitations were also shown, focusing on distractions and negative content on Facebook.
