This article looks at my personal experience of working at a small community archives during my co-op placement. Emotional labour is an important aspect of archival work and needs to be examined when understanding how archivists work with the items in the archives as well as with the community. In particular, this article will examine the emotional labour that is involved when sorting through a new collection and interacting with volunteers.
