The main goal of education, from the perspective of the competency-based approach, is the formation of personality, the disclosure and development of its inclinations, abilities, and skills that ensure effective activity in all spheres of public life. The competency-based approach involves students mastering various kinds of skills that allow them to act effectively in situations of professional, personal and social life in the future. Much research has been conducted on teacher competence. In accordance with the demands of modern society, the need to train competent specialists and train competent students is brought to the forefront, since the law of the value of life is becoming increasingly widespread in society. The problem then becomes what steps to take in physics teaching to achieve competency. However, due attention is not paid to the development of educational competencies in students. Recently, the problem has become urgent - if the educational competencies of students are not formed, the level of knowledge does not increase. The article provides information on the competencies of students and teachers, the educational competencies of schoolchildren when studying physics in connection with other subjects, and the problems of teacher training.
