This article aims to discuss the main research results aimed at developing a grounded theory of the relationship between the configuration of the life projects of university students and the social responsibility of Higher Education institutions. The methodology was based on the qualitative route through a constructivist grounded theory design, a broadly representative sample, and the use of a strong triangulation program. The main findings show the importance of both categories (RSU and CPV) for the development of the mission and vision of the contemporary university and the existence of a wide variety of concepts and processes that would favor their integration. Likewise, various barriers could be verified, mainly at a structural and functional level, but also due to a limited base of previous studies. It is concluded that it is necessary to continue deepening the relationship between both categories, primarily through mixed studies aimed at developing concrete actions to link organizational and personal-generational goals.
