The article discusses the basic principles of inheritance law in the context of legislative reforms in Russia. The ongoing intensifi cation of the reform of inheritance law has infl uenced the change in the principles that are used as the main principles that allow regulating legal relations in conditions of insuffi cient legislative regulation. These trends require a comprehensive analysis and detailed consideration. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the exceptions provided for by the current legislation from the principles of inheritance law depend both on the type and composition of the inherited property and on the will of the testator. At the same time, rights and obligations, in some cases, are not uniform, but conditionally divided and have different legal regimes.
