The article considers that one of the complex socio-legal phenomena existing in the Russian legal field is competition. Competition is the main mechanism for regulating supply and demand in the market of goods and services. However, cases of abuse of this right by unscrupulous market participants are not uncommon. Thus, individual entities violate the principle of competition and use such methods and means that conflict with the legitimate interests of other market participants, thus showing unfair behavior. The use of unfair methods of competition is an urgent problem today, which required and continues to require the legislator to take the necessary measures aimed at improving the legal framework in the field of competition. Moreover, the study of the historical experience of combating unfair competition will help to avoid mistakes in the development of new legal instruments in relation to the legal relations under consideration.
