The article examines the democratic nature of the Constitution of Russia in 1993. It is shown that the Constitution is at the hierarchical top of the national-onal sources of law and has the highest legal force. Law is considered as a principle of law and nation-building in a democratic state, where the Constitution is the basis of law and order. The primary role of legality in ensuring the headquarters of state authorities and local self-government is noted.
