Some Milestones and Prospects for the Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Moldova

Social and economic development is today inconceivable without technological progress. Digitiza-tion is at the forefront of development strategies in the most diverse fields of activity, and competition takes place mainly in relation to the level of adoption of the mechanisms and tools of the information society. The Republic of Moldova faces multiple challenges in its ascent towards an advanced informa-tion society and a performing digital economy. The study focuses on investigating some aspects of the phenomenon in an attempt to shed light on some states of affairs that may have significant influences on the evolution of Republic of Moldova’s society in the digital age. The data and information analyzed in the study, derived from evaluations of relevant institutions, can contribute to a better understanding of the causes and effects of actions concerning the digital transformation process, as well as the prospects for development in an environment increasingly affected by innovation and technological progress.
