Abstract The article considers the main problems of domestic heat supply that do not allow to create comfortable conditions in the premises of residential, civil buildings or industrial facilities for a particular consumer of heat energy. The main problems of multi-story residential buildings in Ukraine, built in the second half of the last century, equipped with vertical heating systems that do not allow individual regulation of heat energy consumption by each apartment are considered. The article considers eight possible variants of heating of multi-story residential buildings. Existing boiler houses or thermal power plants are considered as heat sources in these variants. The choice of eight heat supply systems was based on the accumulated world and domestic experience, real possibilities of their mass completion and installation. Calculations are given, taking into account all capital costs and operating costs for construction and maintenance of sources, thermal, electrical and other systems related to the provision of heat energy to each consumer.
