One of the standards for clinical pharmacy services in hospitals is related to communication, information, and education (CIE). Blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients are strongly influenced by lifestyle, calorie consumption, and drugs consumed. This study aims to analyze patient knowledge related to calories needed, lifestyle, and patient compliance in taking Diabetes Mellitus (DM) drugs.This study is a quantitative descriptive study with simple random sampling in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients at H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan, March-June 2023. Patients are selected based on inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression using SPSS.The results of the study showed knowledge about calories, knowledge about lifestyle, and adherence to drug consumption in moderate levels with successive results were 50.02%, 63%, 60%. The results of the analysis based on multiple linear regression found a relationship between medication adherence to calorie knowledge and lifestyle that is part of the CIE service. The results of the study can be concluded that the knowledge of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients is not good regarding the factors that cause an increase in blood sugar.Conclusion, pharmacists are obliged to conduct counseling of patients.
