The Nenets ornament is an ancient sign system (on the example of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug)

Ornament, as an ancient sign system that allows us to reveal the peculiarities of the thinking of our ancestors, has always attracted close attention in the world and in our multinational Russia. Therefore, the main purpose of this article is to describe the main ornaments characteristic of the residents of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the development of ornamentation at the present stage, made on the basis of the study of literary sources, museum collections, museum funds, periodicals and expedition materials of the author. According to the results of the study, it was possible to identify and compile a list of 20 ornaments of the Nenets of the European North with a description and graphic image. It should be noted that this was done for the first time in the entire history of the Nenets District, since sufficient material has been accumulated to date for analysis, generalization, systematization. In this article, we introduce the results of collecting and analytical work into scientific circulation.
