Most of the territory of the forest fund of the Russian Federation belongs to the zone of coniferous boreal forests. It is often called the taiga, and in general it covers about 10 % of the Earth's landmass. A significant part of the taiga grows in the northern latitudes. The peculiarities of the climate of these latitudes affect the peculiarities of the dynamics of successions of forests growing there, first of all, the rate of recovery after natural and anthropogenic disturbances. The article presents an analysis of literary sources on the features of the structure of cryolithozone soils, as well as the results of a field survey of logging in previous years, located in the north of the Leningrad region.
