With the rapid rise of science and technology, new media is widely used in many industries and fields, and also promotes the reform of college education, bringing new opportunities and challenges for the construction of the new liberal arts and higher education and teaching, which are strongly advocated in China in recent years. The discipline of tourism management is advancing with The Times and has strong practicability. The new media provides a new opportunity for the educational reform of this discipline. In the context of the new liberal arts, this study discusses the opportunities and countermeasures for the innovation construction of the tourism management major curriculum in colleges and universities enabled by new media, in order to help the tourism management major in colleges and universities to innovate the curriculum construction with the help of new media technology. This study believes that innovative tourism curriculum based on new media should be one of the curriculum construction that universities setting up tourism management majors should pay attention to. Specifically, the government, universities and practitioners should make concerted efforts to assume due roles and tasks. In order to enhance the ability of higher education to serve social development, and cultivate “compound talents” for tourism management in the new era, the curriculum system and teaching mode sbhuold be innovated from several respects, including “changing the training mode and increasing policy support”, “encouraging teachers to prepare self-taught textbooks and quickly publish new textbooks”, “integrating resources and strengthening the policy support”.
