The Internet of Things (IoT) has experienced rapid expansion and broad adoption, ushering in a new era of interconnectedness and data-driven decision-making.The integrity and dependability of IoT systems are threatened by a wide range of security issues that have also emerged as a result of this technological revolution. This survey study offers a thorough review of the state of IoT security today, emphasizing the various threats facing the industry, the main points of vulnerability, and the most recent developments in defensive tactics and solutions. The first section of the study presents a taxonomy of Internet of Things assaults, dividing them into risks at the application, network, and physical layers. It then explores the different hardware, network, and software vulnerabilities that have made these attacks possible, emphasizing the particular difficulties brought about by the heterogeneity and resource constraints of IoT devices as well as the absence of standards and interoperability within the IoT ecosystem. The survey examines the latest developments in IoT security in response to these security issues, such as the creation of fresh security frameworks, inventive methods for authentication and authorization, and improvements in anomaly detection and intrusion prevention. It also looks at case studies and real-world applications to extract useful lessons and best practices for IoT system security.
