According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 94% of complex congenital anomalies occur in LMIC, creating a large gap in care. We hypothesize that a long term, multi institutional collaboration with a tertiary institution in an LMIC will improve outcomes of patients with complex congenital anomalies. METHODS: A collaboration between a US academic center and a center in LMIC was formed in 2011. The surgical collaboration included training in common urological surgical procedures and jointly managing patients with complex congenital anomalies. We present data from past 3 years. RESULTS: Two pediatric surgeons were trained to perform independently most common pediatric urological procedures with outcomes similar to US academic centers. Table 1 shows the complex cases that were performed jointly over the past 3 years and their outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Collaboration between an Western Academic Medical Center and a tertiary referral center in LMIC has the potential of creating a center of excellence and improve the care of patients with complex congenital urological anomalies.
