Online teaching at the Algerian university in the time of covid-19 Between contribution and difficulties of appropriation

As soon as the first cases of the pandemic (covid-19) appeared in Algeria in February 2020, the country's higher authorities decided to immediately close public or private schools and also all universities and move vitally towards containment. Indeed, all activities have been frozen. Thus, the future of the students became at that time in danger and it was then necessary to find an alternative to face this exceptional situation. Inspired by the experiences of other countries, Algeria has resorted to distance learning as a solution that could enable teachers to carry out and complete the various pedagogical activities at this juncture and offer students the opportunity to take their final exams in order to reach the higher level or obtain their bachelor's or master's degrees at the end of the year. This article aims to shed light on the effective contribution of the various platforms used in distance learning at the Algerian university such as Facebook, Google Meet, Classroom, Zoom, Moodle, and especially to show their role during the difficult period of covid-19 and this, and for the teacher and for the student. We took as an example the French language department of Hassiba Benbouali University of Chlef.
