Psychological Aspects of a Criminalistic Study of the Identity of a Witness

The need to study the identity of a witness in the course of crime investigation is triggered by the importance of their testimony in a criminal case both for the prosecution and for the defense. The author refers to opinions of Russian and foreign scientists about problems and areas of study of personal characteristics of witnesses. The paper notes their impact on making knowingly false testimony and testimony based on an honest mistake. The publication highlights the importance of studying the identity of a witness in the contemporary conditions with the use of criminalistic and psychological methods.
