Significance Droughts threaten knock-on effects for areas without direct water scarcity challenges, in the form of food price pressures, increased irregular migration from displaced communities, and disruption to water-sensitive services such as cloud-based computing. Impacts Water scarcity will continue to exacerbate conflict risks and challenges for global supply chains and food access. Nature-based solutions such as regenerative agriculture, agroforestry and river replenishment will gain increasing attention.
