Several physicochemical characteristics of the water of some of the wastewaters draining into the Tigris River within the city of Mosul were studied from September to November 2023. Physicochemical characteristics were measured, viz. turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved and suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, total hardness, and hardness calcium and magnesium. An increase was detected in most of the physicochemical characteristics at some sites under investigation compared to the Iraqi values. While, the concentrations of the biological oxygen demand and suspended solids exceeded the Iraqi values. On the other hand, the acidity values were within the normal range, with respect to all the sites. In additon, a decrease was observed in the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water. Furthermore, the values of turbidity and hardness showed an obvious increase at some sites and throughout some months of the study.
