The impact of demographic changes on the economic security of the Republic of Moldova

This article presents changes in the demographic sphere of the Republic of Moldova, their impact on the economic security of the country as a whole. The most serious threat to the country's economic security is that as the population structure changes as the workforce shrinks (a shrinking and aging population) and welfare costs increase for needy citizens, the economy may slow. The Republic of Moldova at this stage is experiencing problems in the demographic sphere, which reduces the level of economic security. The article presented the main trends in the demographic sphere and their impact on the economic security of the country. Statistical indicators of demographic processes in the Republic of Moldova were analyzed, and conclusions were drawn that in the Republic of Moldova there is a trend towards a decrease in the birth rate, population size, an increase in mortality, and an increase in emigration , which reduces the level of economic development. In this regard, it is necessary to take effective measures to improve the level and quality of life of the population of the Republic of Moldova.
