Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) involves minimizing thermally generated power costs within operational constraints. While linear programming traditionally addresses this, meta-heuristic algorithms like Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Magnetic Optimization Algorithm (MOA), and Chimp Optimization Algorithm (ChOA) show promise. This paper compares these algorithms in two case studies 3 units (coal-based, oil-based, and nuclear-based) and 6 units, evaluating their effectiveness in minimizing costs and maximizing power network load. Results highlight the efficiency of meta-heuristic approaches over traditional methods, emphasizing their potential in addressing complex engineering challenges in power systems.
