The article is devoted to the analysis of figurative and expressive means as the most important idiostyle feature of the Khanty writer E.D. Aipin. The research material is the novel In Search of the First Earth. The work used the immanent analysis and the method of linguapoetic description of expressive means. As a result of the study, key tropes were identified and described: metaphor, comparison, hyperbole. It has been established that these means of expression can be used both independently and in the structure of hyperthrope. The source of most tropes is the ethno-national component. Metaphor in the novel acts as a kind of semantic code, uniting chapters, chronotopes, and destinies of characters into a single whole. Comparison is the basis for describing a portrait or character of a character. Hyperbole is used to create a mental world. Hypertrope as a result of contamination of tropes and stylistic figures works as a device in depicting crisis events passing through the consciousness of the protagonist. The work concludes that the system of tropes underlies the formation of imagery, poetry and mythology in the artistic world of E. D. Aipin.
