This study examined the effectiveness of English webtoons as an educational tool in university general English classes. Specifically, a teacher used a webtoon called “My Giant Nerd Boyfriend”, which deals with trivial aspects of daily life, to analyze how English webtoons impact both learning achievement and learners’ affective domains. This study conducted two English achievement tests to assess the impact of English webtoons on learning achievement and found significant improvement between the first and second tests. Meanwhile, learners reported high (71.4%) overall satisfaction with English webtoons as learning materials, highlighting the webtoons’ relatability to daily life and helpfulness with everyday English expressions as well as the enjoyability and low difficulty level of the task and the lively learning environment it fostered. The study concluded by making pedagogical suggestions based on these findings for the use of English webtoons.
