Población

604 patients who received antiplatelet therapy for >6 months after their first percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), mean age 63.0 years, approximately 80% male. Excluded patients with evidence of GI bleeding, severe anemia (hemoglobin <8 g/dL), or known/suspected malignancy at the time of drug administration.

Intervención

Tegoprazan 50 mg in combination with antiplatelet therapy for >6 months

Comparador

Low-dose proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) (pantoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole, dexlansoprazole, lansoprazole, or omeprazole) in combination with antiplatelet therapy for >6 months

Resultado

Primary GI endpoints: symptomatic gastroduodenal ulcers and upper GI bleeding. Primary CV endpoints: major adverse cardiac events (MACEs), nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), target vessel revascularization, and death from CV-related causes.safety

Tegoprazan appears to be a safe and effective alternative to PPIs for preventing gastrointestinal complications without increasing cardiovascular risk in patients on antiplatelet therapy after PCI.
