Tezepelumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody produced using recombinant DNA technology in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2021 as an add-on maintenance therapy for patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma. The therapeutic action of Tezepelumab is based on the inhibition of thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), an epithelial-derived cytokine that plays a central role in initiating and sustaining airway inflammation.
