Abstract The development of Polish scholarship in the field of European Union (EU) law is closely linked to the history of the state’s relations with the EC (EU), from its status as an associated state to a stable Member State. Research on EU law was linked to discussions on the new constitution. There is a substantial body of literature on the impact of EU membership on Polish courts and the position of private persons. The crisis of the rule of law, which lasted several years, and the conflict between the Polish authorities and EU institutions, which has been commented on by researchers, proved to be specific to Poland. There is also extensive research on the impact of EU law on Polish private law. The Polish community of EU law researchers is briefly characterized.
