Abstract: “Ode to Shivaji” is a patriotic poem written by K.R Srinivasa Iyengar. In this ode poet wants to tell us about the bravery of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The poet admires Shivaji’s military skills, and moral strength. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not only a warrior but he was also a ruler who always cared for his people and always upheld righteousness. K.R Srinivasa Iyengar shows us the tribute to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha Warrior and Founder of Maratha empire through “Ode of Shivaji.” The Ode also glorifies Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as fearless and noble leader who rose against foreign domination. This Ode is a great inspirations for all the readers and especially for younger generations to learn about Shivaji’s patriotism, sacrifice, and sense of duty toward nation. Thus, Shivaji is not only known as historical figure but also for a ideal of a heroic leadership and love for the motherland. Shivaji is portrayed as a leader who combined bravery with wisdom and strength with compassion.
