The proliferation of dermatological misinformation on social media reflects a broader transformation in how medical authority is constructed and trusted in digital environments. Algorithmic systems privilege visibility and relatability over clinical expertise, amplifying misleading narratives and disproportionately affecting emotionally salient skin conditions. Sustaining public trust requires anticipatory strategies that convert institutional authority into effective networked communication through coordinated education, digital engagement and clinician training.
