ABSTRACT Cosmetic improvement of a strabismus by the use of prism lenses is especially effective for patients who have moderate deviations, poor prognosis for functional cure, and who customarily fixate with one eye. The prism is placed before the deviating eye, base‐in for esotropes and base‐out for exotropes. The patient's eye, seen by the observer through the spectacle lens, appears to be less deviated. The phenomenon is illustrated by three case histories and two sets of photographs.
