Public health surveillance systems are crucial for monitoring infectious diseases in South Africa, where such efforts have been ongoing since at least. A comprehensive search strategy was employed to identify relevant studies. The DiD model, a quasi-experimental design, will be used to assess the impact of these surveillance systems on disease incidence and cost savings over time. The analysis revealed that implementing the DiD model for cost-effectiveness evaluation in South Africa's public health surveillance systems can provide insights into system efficiency and potential improvements. This study underscores the importance of rigorous methodological approaches in evaluating public health surveillance systems, particularly when considering their financial impact on disease management. Public health officials should consider adopting a DiD model for future cost-effectiveness analyses to enhance understanding of system performance and resource allocation. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
