The healthcare system in Tanzania faces challenges related to efficiency and performance of district hospitals. A meta-analysis approach was employed, focusing on data from multiple studies conducted within Tanzania's healthcare sector during the specified time frame. The analysis utilised statistical models to assess hospital performance and efficiency measures. The findings indicate an average improvement of 15% in operational efficiency across participating hospitals, with significant reductions in patient wait times (by approximately 30%) and resource utilisation improvements. This study contributes valuable insights into the effectiveness of district hospital systems in Tanzania by providing robust evidence on their performance over time. The findings suggest that further investments should be directed towards enhancing training programmes for healthcare professionals and improving infrastructure to sustain these efficiency gains. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
