Solar microgrids have emerged as a critical infrastructure for rural electrification in Rwanda, offering sustainable energy solutions to underserved areas. The analysis employs data from government reports and surveys conducted by local NGOs focused on energy access and economic development in Rwanda's rural areas. A notable trend observed is the significant increase in solar microgrid installations over the past five years, particularly in remote districts with low electricity penetration rates. The findings underscore the potential of solar microgrids to improve economic productivity and quality of life in Rwanda's rural settings. Policymakers are encouraged to implement targeted subsidies and support programmes to accelerate the adoption of solar microgrids, thereby enhancing energy access across rural Rwanda.
