Bayesian Hierarchical Model for Evaluating Clinical Outcomes in Emergency Care Units in Senegal

Emergency care units (ECUs) play a critical role in managing patients with acute medical conditions in Senegal. A Bayesian hierarchical model was developed to analyse patient data collected from multiple ECU sites across Senegal, accounting for both site-specific variability and overall system performance. The model revealed significant differences in patient recovery rates between urban and rural ECUs (direction: higher rates observed in urban centers). This study provides a robust framework to assess and enhance emergency care systems in Senegal, facilitating evidence-based policy recommendations. Implementing the proposed Bayesian model can lead to more targeted interventions aimed at improving patient outcomes across different ECU settings. Bayesian hierarchical models, clinical outcomes, emergency care units, Senegal Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
