The study uses data carpentry tools to identify the open access practices of National Instituteof Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) researchers in the last quartercentury (2000-2024). The main aims of this study are to measure the NIScPR researchers’contributions in open-access publications. Primary data was collected from the OpenAlex andWeb of Science; 862 publications were retrieved. After the data cleaning and duplicatechecking, 511 publications with DOIs were analyzed in OpenRefine and multiple ODbL-baseddata sources to retrieve the required data elements for this study. These selected publicationsreceived 6288 citations, and citation data were retrieved from dimensions.ai throughOpenRefine. Unpaywall API is used to collect Open Access status, fetching 511 publicationsdata, and finding out 151 (30.32%) publications in Open Access. Found that 10 researchershave published at least 3 publications in open-access. NIScPR director Dr. Ranjana Aggarwalcontributed the highest number of publications in an open-access environment, 14 (42.42%).Her area of interest is Organic and Bio-organic Chemistry. This study will be helpful for themeasurement of open access practices of various institutes from different perspectives.
