Use of the locomotives with ETCS system on the Bratislava – Žilina railway line

The contribution deals with the use of locomotives on a train route between Bratislava and Žilina and with the impact of different railway safety devices for the smoothness and safety of railway transport. The first chapter analyses the use of rolling stock of the Slovak Railway Company, a. s., equipped with a mobile part of the European Train Control System (ETCS), deployed on passenger trains in long-distance transport, on the investigated line. From the last three timetable periods, deployments of locomotives in the month of March are compared. The second chapter analyses and compares changes in individual periods. There are described possible options for improving the deployment of the locomotives and the operational side of the examined railway line in the third chapter.
