Cardiopulmonary effects of alfaxalone-midazolam-hydromorphone or dexmedetomidine-midazolam-hydromorphone before isoflurane anesthesia in healthy rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Puntos clave
Cardiopulmonary depression is observed in rabbits premedicated with dexmedetomidine-midazolam-hydromorphone.
Heart rate, arterial blood pressure, and PaCO2 were significantly more affected compared to alfaxalone-midazolam-hydromorphone.
Assessment using various cardiopulmonary parameters showed distinct differences between anesthesia protocols.
Findings highlight the importance of choosing appropriate premedication to minimize cardiopulmonary risks.
Resumen
Rabbits premedicated with DMH were more sedate and, under anesthesia, had significantly more cardiopulmonary depression (heart rate, arterial blood pressure, PaCO2) compared with AMH.
