Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centre Systems in South Africa: Quasi-Experimental Design to Measure Yield Improvement

Community health centres (CHCs) in South Africa are essential for providing primary healthcare services to underserved populations. However, their efficiency and effectiveness need methodological evaluation. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from patient outcome measures and qualitative insights from interviews was employed. The quasi-experimental design will compare baseline and post-intervention outcomes, with a treatment group receiving enhanced support services compared to a control group. The preliminary analysis suggests an improvement in patient satisfaction scores (mean increase of 15%) among the intervention group, indicating potential enhancement in service delivery. While initial findings show promise, further data collection and validation are necessary before concluding on yield improvements. Implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives based on these findings is recommended to sustain observed gains. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
